choose INTERACTION.

When a system doesn’t let its users contribute to it in any way, it’s a one-way causal effect where the user is merely in a passive state, dependent on that system. However, the concept of interaction is where both parties have an effect upon one another.

Product Name: ePath Learning nGage

ePath Learning nGage™ is a validated compliance training LMS solution developed specifically for regulated companies including life sciences, pharmaceutical and medical device organizations. nGage LMS helps to alleviate the administrative struggles and technical burdens typically associated with delivering complex, organization-wide compliance training programs.

Feature:

Users given ability to upload extracurricular Learning Activities to the system

Challenge:

All the Learning Activities in the system are created by the admins and presented to the users. The users can’t add an activity or upload a file to the LMS, this is how the system operates.

In this one-way process, whenever a user successfully completes a Learning Activity, it becomes part of their history and these accomplishments may be viewed by their managers. Since the system provides users an incentive to promote their skills to their managers, the users want to be able to upload their achievements from external learning events as well as internal ones. In order to carry this feature into effect, the page and its filtering, sorting, editing and viewing capabilities have to be redesigned so that the users may start interacting with the system.

In the redesigned version, the user needs to be able to:

- add, edit, view, delete Accomplishments,

- upload files and rename them.

Besides;

- New sorting capabilities have to be redesigned which requires thoughtful reduction (For example, sorting by date might mean Registration Date, Due Date, Completion Date, or Accomplishment Date, and it’s not wise to use all of them).

- New filtering capabilities have to be redesigned which requires a dynamic menu (For example, an accomplishment may not be filtered by its progress status, because all accomplishments are already accomplished, meaning they’re already completed).

Result:

UX solutions within a Learning Management System may be quite complex, especially for someone new to an LMS. The ideal way to understand the reasoning behind these features I created would be to go over these prototypes as I explain them in full detail. Still, the user story and the clickable prototype may give an idea about the projects I’ve been working on.
